遠く離れていても、小さなきっかけでたくさんの“理解し合えるきっかけ” ができる。

わたしたちは、日本の港町気仙沼からスラウェシ、セブ、花蓮の４つのローカルポートを繋ぐ小さなコミュニティづくりから、顔の見えるお互いの名前を呼び合う関係性を築いていきます。

多様な国籍や文化が混ざり合う気仙沼から、
気仙沼に暮らす日本人と気仙沼に暮らす日本人と気仙沼に暮らす外国人、
そして世界の海とまちを繋いでいきます。

ここ気仙沼は、遠洋漁業の基地であり、交通の便が悪く“陸の孤島”となったことで、独特の文化が醸成されてきた町です。

独立行政法人国際交流基金との共催で始まった（2021年度実施した）本プロジェクトは、

「世界につながる“楽しい”豊かなローカル」から、面白い化学反応が起こる種まきをはじめます。

We will build a face-to-face relationship by creating a small community that connects tthe local port towns of Indonesia, the Philippines, and Taiwan from the Japanese port city of Kesennuma.

From Kesennuma, where diverse nationalities and cultures are mixed, we will connect Japanese people living in Kesennuma, foreigners living in Kesennuma, and countries around the world.

Kesennuma is a base for pelagic fishing and has become an isolated island on land due to poor transportation, and has cultivated a unique culture.

UMITOMACHI started in collaboration with The Japan Foundation (implemented in 2021) will start sowing seeds where interesting chemical reactions occur from such a “fun” rich local that connects to the world.

出会いは、去年の９月。
あれから半年、何度言葉と場所の壁を乗り越え、笑い合って話し合ってきただろう。
「会いたい」が募るほど、町への期待や知りたい要求が増えていく。
