12月19日にUMITOMACHI My neighbour’s portの

第3回目となる「海とアート＆デザイン」のイベントを開催しました！

今回は台湾（馬祖）、インドネシア（スラウェシ）、と気仙沼を中継でつなぎ、

お互いの国の「海とアート＆デザイン」について各国の情報を共有し、共通点や新しい発見を見つけました。

On December 19th, we held the third event of UMITOMACHI: My Neighbour’s Port, “Sea and Art & Design!”

This time we connected to the Matsu Islands in Taiwan, Sulawesi in Indonesia, and Kesennuma in Japan, and shared information from each of our countries about the topic of “Sea and Art & Design,” finding similarities and new discoveries.

インドネシアからはムカワルマン大学サマリンダ校の講師であり、作家と編集を生業としている

ダヒーリ・ダハランさんをゲストにお招きし、

現地で親しまれている織物や絵本について発表いただきました。

模様はただ単にかっこよさや美しさを魅せるだけではなく、一つ一つの形に歴史や想いなどの意味が込められています。

私たちの身の回りに溢れている模様についても考えるきっかけになりました。

From Indonesia, we invited our first guest Dahri Dahlan, a lecturer at Mulawarman University in Samarinda, who also works as a writer and editor. He presented to us about picture books and the weaving beloved in the region.

The patterns of the textiles do more than charm us with their beauty and stylishness, as each and every shape is filled with historical and emotional meaning.

It was a chance to consider all the patterns that surround us daily.

馬祖（マツ）からは現地でコミュニティやアート関係のプロジェクトを立ち上げている

タミー・ツァイさんをお招きし、馬祖国際藝術島という馬祖で行われるビエンナーレを軸にアートとデザインについてお話しいただきました。

台湾の島々で初めて行う大規模なアートイベントであり、コミュニティアートや歴史を織り込んだプロジェクトになっています。

デザインとアートを用いることで、島の歴史をより鮮明に紐解くことができると思います。

From the Matsu Islands, we invited Tammy Tsai, an artist who is launching a project in the area related to the community and art. She spoke to us about art and design, focusing on the Matsu Biennial, an international art event held on the island.

It is the first large-scale art event to be held on the islands of Taiwan, and has become a project that weaves together community art and history.

Visitors can more vividly unravel the history of the islands through the use of design and art.

The event will be held from February 12th to April 10th, 2022, and even those who are unable to visit in person can experience the ambience through Facebook posts!

気仙沼からは、東北ツリーハウス観光協会の代表である斉藤道有さんからツリーハウスの紹介を軸に気仙沼への想いも伝えていただきました。

道有さんの大きなテーマはコミュニケーション、ルーツ（アイデンティティ）、記憶です。

誰しもが幼いときに夢を見るツリーハウスを中心に、どんどんと輪が広まっていくコミュニティ。

そんなポジティブな空間作りができるまでを細かく説明していただきました。

唐桑町鮪立にある唐桑御殿つなかんの横にツリーハウスがあるので是非足を運んでみてください！

We also shared our own thoughts from Kesennuma, through the introduction of Michiari Saito, representative of the Tohoku Treehouse Tourism Association.

The major themes of Michiari’s works are communication, roots and identity, and memory.

A community has gradually spread out from these treehouses that everyone dreamed of as a child.

He explained to us in detail how he was able to build that kind of positive space.

One of his treehouses is beside Tsunakan, one of the Karakuwa fishermen’s palaces here in the Shibitachi area, so please be sure to visit!

今回のイベント後も日常的に海外チームと参加者がLINEを通してコミュニケーションをとっています！

LINEの翻訳機能を導入することで、言語の壁を超えてコミュニケーションをとることができるので、英語に自信のない方でも気軽にコミュニケーションをとれます。

After our event this time, our participants were able to communicate with the teams overseas through LINE!

By adding the LINE translation tool, we could break the language barrier and communicate with each other, so even those who don’t have any confidence in their English can freely communicate.
