【UMITOMACHI Part.1 海と食】

10月24日にUMITOMACHI My neighbour’s portの第1回目となる「海と食」のイベントを開催しました！

On October 24th, we held an event on “Sea and Food,” the first event of UMITOMACHI: My Neighbour’s Port!

イベントでは台湾（花蓮）、インドネシア（スラウェシ）、フィリピン（セブ）と気仙沼を中継でつなぎ、

お互いの国の「海と食」について各国の情報を共有し、共通点や新しい発見を見つけました。

At the event, we connected live to Hualien, Taiwan; Sulawesi, Indonesia; Cebu, Philippines; and Kesennuma, Japan, and shared information about “Sea and Food” in each other’s countries while finding points in common and making new discoveries.

トップバッターの台湾の美味しそうな料理が映像を通して紹介されると、参加者一同調味料などに興味津々。たくさんの質問が飛び交いました。また、台湾では気仙沼同様、マンボウを食べる習慣があり、マンボウレシピについて参加者は釘付けでした。

Our first presenter was the Taiwan team, who introduced a delicious-looking dish over video. Every participant was keenly interested in the seasonings used, and question after question came flying out. We also learned that just like Kesennuma, Taiwan also has a custom of eating sunfish, and participants fixated on the sunfish recipes.

その後も各国の発表を聞きながらインドネシア料理や、

日門網さんが捌いた魚の試食をしたりと、五感でイベントを感じることができ、国を超えて素敵な時間を過ごすことができました。

After that, we experienced the event through all five senses as we listened to presentations from each country, such as one about Indonesian cuisine, and sampled fish cleaned and fileted by a Hikadoami fisherman. In this way we could spend our time enjoying ourselves beyond our own borders.

最後に、フィリピンチームのゲストとしてMama Abethから情熱溢れる中継が繋がれ、第一回の幕を閉じました。

At the end, we were joined by Mama Abeth, a guest of the Philippines team, in a live stream overflowing with passion, closing the curtain on our first event.

UMITOMACHIプロジェクトでは海外の方と話す機会がたくさんあります。

We have many opportunities to speak with those overseas thanks to the UMITOMACHI Project.

日常的に海外の参加者とLINEでグループを作り、コミュニケーションもとっており、画面越しではありますが海外をリアルタイムで感じています。

By making a LINE group with participants from abroad and communicating with each other in an everyday way, even through a screen, we are able to experience other countries in real time.

私（皆川）自身英語が全くできないのですが、LINEの翻訳機能を導入することで、言語の壁を超えてコミュニケーションをとることができるので、英語に自信のない方でも気軽にコミュニケーションをとることができます◎

Even I (Minakawa), who can speak absolutely no English, was able to break the language barrier and communicate by adding the LINE translation tool. I can vouch that anyone who isn’t confident in their English will still be able to freely join in the conversation.
